St. Athanasios Greek School
The afternoon Greek School is held twice a week on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:16-6:15 p.m. 
Grade levels are pre-K through the 6th grade.  The curriculum encompasses the Greek Language, Reading, Writing,
Speaking, History, Religion, Ecclesiastical Hymns, and Geography of Greece.  In addition, we offer the
“Continuous Greek Education” Class for children 12-18 years of age.  This class is offered once a week on Fridays
from 4:00-6:00 p.m..  We ask all parents to enroll their children so that our youth will keep in their hearts and minds our
Greek Heritage our Greek language and our Greek customs and Traditions.  The first day of Greek School will be September 15th.

   Dear Parishioners,

   We have an exciting year planned for your children – please review the highlights of this outstanding program:

Students meet twice a week, on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:30 – 6:30pm
We have 9 teachers with over 200 years of combined teaching experiences
Grades Pre-k through 6th are offered
Continuing education course for 7th through 10th grade prepares students to take the REGENTS exam and the Examination for the Certificate of Attainment in Greek.

We graduate 90% of all our students

   In addition to the teaching of the Greek language, class time is also devoted to Greek History, Mythology, Geography and cultural themes
   Students present poems, plays and songs during Greek National holidays and Orthodox religious celebrations
   Once a year there is a cultural school trip to an area location
   We have a very active and energetic Parent Teacher Organization (PTO), which greatly assists both students and teachers
   Our program is enriched with many multi-media presentations, musical and cultural events along with other special projects
   Annual participation in the Greek Independence Day Parade in New York City

   A special thank to the PTO organization, for their continuous support and help. They are always there for us, and they are doing the best for our children.
   Finally, I want to thank Father Anargyros for his guidance and support throughout the year.
   Greek School will re-open the 15th of September. You can register your children during summer if you are in town. The church office will be open.
   Our School is held twice a week on Mondays and Wednesdays 4:30-6:30 (for children 4-12 years old), and every Friday 4:00-6:00 (for children 12 years and over).  Adult School is also being offered every Friday 6:00-8:00 pm. (two classes).

   Θερμά ευχαριστώ στον Σύλλογο Γονέων για την συνεχή στήριξή τους και την τέλεια συνεργασία, και τελικά τον Ιερατικό μας Προΐστάμενο τον Πατέρα  Ανάργυρο, για την συμπαράσταση, καθοδήγηση, και ενδιαφέρον του.  Η πρώτη μέρα της νέας σχολικής χρονιάς, θα είναι η 15η Σεπτεμβρίου 2010. Εγγραφές μπορούν να γίνονται καθ΄όλη την διάρκεια του καλοκαιριού.
   Το σχολείο μας λειτουργεί δύο φορές την εβδομάδα, Δευτέρα και Τετάρτη 4:30  - 6:30 για τα παιδιά 4-12 ετών, και κάθε Παρασκευή 4.00 - 6.00 για τα παιδιά 12 ετών και άνω. Κάθε Παρασκευή επίσης 6:00  - 8:00, παρέχουμε τάξη Ελληνικής γλώσσας γιά ενηλίκους, ( δύο τμήματα).
